The public elementary school, Atkinson Academy, is said to be the oldest co-educational school (still standing) in the country.
The current population is just over 6,000, however nearby access to Routes 125 makes it an easy drive to both Haverhill and Lawrence, and without traffic it’s just under an hour to Boston.
