Homes in Derry NH
Like many of it’s New England neighbors, Derry, NH has a rich American historical tradition – including being the home of poet Robert Frost between 1900 and 1911. The Robert Frost Farm, a state park and Historical Landmark located on the site of the old Frost family homestead, is currently open to the public from spring through fall. Visitors can enjoy tours and poetry readings during the open season.
It’s main high school, Pinkerton Academy, is one of the country’s oldest private schools – though it currently serves as the public high school for the town and other surrounding communities. The arrangement is unique because five nearby communities (including Derry) pay the tuition for all local students of those communities to attend Pinkerton. Pinkerton was founded in 1814 and still use some of the original buildings, though new ones have also been constructed.
Along with it’s historical ties, Derry boasts many modern-day attractions and events which provide a well-rounded artistic and cultural experience for its residents. The Derry Opera House, Pinkerton’s Stockbridge Theater, the many beautiful outdoor parks, a seasonal outdoor concert series, and the Derry Homegrown Farm & Artisan Market are just some of the numerous attractions available. Best of all, Derry is a mere 6-minute drive from the town beach at Beaver Lake.
Located in Rockingham County, Derry has a population of about 34,000 people. This makes Derry the fourth largest town in New Hampshire.
