HALLOWEEN
Trying to plan a party for Halloween or just looking to decorate? Please read below to check out easy, cheap, creepy decorating ideas!
- Floating Candles
Paint empty paper towel rolls white. Use a glue gun to “drip” glue on one end to look like wax dripping down the candle then paint this white as well. Punch a small hole in either side and string fishing line through to hang it. Top it off with a battery powered tea light that fits snuggly inside the top of the roll and sits on the fishing line. Hang your candles around the house and turn them on for a great spooky glow!
- Bat Lamps
Search for bat clipart using Google and download it. Upload the image to a word document, resize it to make it as large as you want and print out several copies. Cut out your bats and attach them to the inside of a lampshade. Craft glue dots work well for this, they can easily be removed and will keep your bat in place. Turn the light on to see the silhouette of the bat!
- Flying Bats
Using the same idea as above, use your printed bats to trace the outline onto heavy-duty black poster board or painted cardboard then cut them out. Poke small holes in the wings and use clear fishing line to hang them on your front porch or around the house.
- Spiders in the Soap
Place fake spiders inside a clear hand soap dispenser and fill with clear soap for scary bathroom décor.
- Outdoor Spider Webs
This is another idea that’s great for your front porch. Get decorative spider webbing and large spiders from your local discount store. Use them to create one large web across an area of your front porch. Then, attach the spiders randomly on it.
- Ravens
Get fake black ravens from your local discount or craft store and place them in trees by your front walkway. If you don’t have trees, find large branches with a lot of limbs and plant them in flower pots. Use the pots to line your front walkway as trees then place your ravens in them.
- Buffet Table
Use decorative spider webbing and twisted branches anchored in pots to decorate your buffet table. Place pots with branches at either end of the table and use cobwebs to arch your table by attaching to the branches at each end. Attach an assortment of fake spiders to the webs. You can then place several flickering tea lights around the table for an added effect.
- Indoor Spider Webs
Use thick black rope to create a spider web effect on banisters. String several pieces around in a semi-circular pattern, tying to the banister or railing as you go. Then use several other pieces to create the web by bringing them down in a waterfall pattern from the top and tying them to the web. You can make large spiders to attach to the web using Styrofoam balls painted black and adding black pipe cleaners for legs and gluing on fake eyeballs.
- Floating Heads
Use foam heads that you can buy from a craft store and cover them in cheesecloth leaving the excess to hang down. Tie the cheese cloth under the head using burlap rope. Attach a hook and clear fishing line and suspend them from the ceiling.
- Creepy Eyes
Using old toilet paper rolls, cut different shapes and styles of eyes into them. Place a glow stick inside then place them randomly in your yard under bushes or other types of covering, especially around your front porch.
Decorating for Halloween doesn’t have to be expensive but with these ideas, it can be a lot of fun.
